Peg McDermott is an award-winning marketing communications expert, Internet marketing specialist, and public speaker. Peg is the founder and president of COGO Interactive, an innovative Internet Marketing firm specializing in helping small to mid-sized businesses increase revenue and awareness by leveraging Social Media Marketing and Search Engine Optimization.
Peg’s gained proficiency during her 25 years of marketing and advertising agency experience. She is an expert in interactive marketing strategy and tactics including web development, social media marketing, search engine optimization, pay-per-click and online communications. Her solid record of accomplishment in developing results-driven integrated Internet marketing programs has helped COGO clients to achieve business growth and increase market share in highly competitive industries such as commercial and residential real estate, information technology, and professional services, as well as non-profit organizations.
Before launching COGO Interactive in 2009, Peg served as vice president for Ecendant Interactive, where she played a pivotal role in grooming the company from a small start-up into one of the top 13 interactive marketing agencies in the Washington DC Metro area. Peg contributed solution-driven leadership and strategic account management expertise to all company web initiatives, managing billings in excess of $12 million during her 6-year tenure. Her clients included KB Homes and well known restaurant chain operator Pasta Resources, for which she developed a complete backend reservation and gift card system.
Prior to joining Ecendant, Peg co-founded and served as president for an award-winning full service marketing and design communications agency in Alexandria, Virginia. There, she successfully managed corporate and product branding campaigns, web development initiatives, and marketing communications plans for such prestigious organizations as American Red Cross, National Association for Missing & Exploited Children, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Sonitrol Corporation, Centerforce Technologies, and Cavalier Telephone.
Before moving to Washington DC, Peg was the vice president of marketing for Lexicon Communications, a progressive advertising agency in Central New York. Her efforts to expand the client base and strengthen relations within the media community propelled the company to one of the top 10 advertising agencies in Central New York.
Peg’s experience also encompasses broadcast media, where she held positions as both the local and national sales manager for CBS Television in New York. At CBS, she managed more than $16 million in billings and was responsible for a staff of 50 reps in 15 offices nationwide. She worked with advertising agencies that represented such brands as Kraft, Proctor & Gamble, American Dairy Association, General Motors, Dodge, Burger King and Wendy’s.
Peg’s work has contributed to her teams winning numerous awards including an ADDY, several Silver Awards from the National Association of Builders for web work, and several MAME (Major Achievements in Marketing Excellence) awards including best interactive campaign development, website design and multimedia with virtual reality. The Washington Metropolitan Sales & Marketing Council, Northern Virginia Building Industry Association, sponsors MAME awards.
Peg received a BA in Communication Studies from Oswego State University (SUNY) in New York. Peg enjoys golf, racquetball, camping, skiing, running, yoga and travel.
